Dr. Stephanie Liu

Dr. Stephanie Liu, affectionately known as Dr. Mom, knows the importance of using skincare products that are both science-backed and natural. As a family physician in Edmonton, she often sees patients who are suffering from dry skin and eczema due to the region’s dry climate and harsh winters. Knowing that so many patients and parents want steroid-free options — and being drawn to more natural skincare alternatives herself — Dr. Liu worked with the University of Alberta to create a one-of-a-kind skincare solution. It extracts beta glucan, the healing ingredient in oats, into a concentrated, steroid-free formula safe for all ages. 

Her first skincare product was a beta glucan bath treatment that helped soothe the entire body. Knowing that people also want a targeted approach, she expanded her product line to include a thick beta glucan cream for conditions like eczema, dry, itchy skin, and bug bites. The latest addition to the Dr. Mom product line is a beta glucan lip balm to soothe dry, cracked lips. Her products have been featured on Global Television, CBC, National Post, and Today’s Parent.

Her goal of creating science-backed, natural products remains strong, and she continues to find innovative ways to provide natural, effective treatments for a variety of skin conditions. Dr. Liu is currently working with the University of Alberta on a clinical trial to assess her cream’s effectiveness in healing incontinence-related skin rashes.
