Shounak Mehta

A fifth-generation lawyer, Shounak Mehta grew up watching his father and grandfather get dressed in polished black suits for court, admiring the respect they earned across the community. He always knew he wanted to follow that same path — continuing his family’s tradition of helping those in need.

Originally a criminal defense attorney in Mumbai, Mehta pivoted to real estate and corporate law when he moved to Canada. He opened Juriscorp Law in 2016, where most of his business assists corporate and healthcare professionals; however, Mehta reserves time to provide pro bono legal services to new immigrants, students, and seniors. To him, Edmonton is a thriving city of opportunity, where community members often collaborate and uplift one another. 

When he isn’t busy working or giving back to the community, Mehta enjoys travelling with his wife and two children. To date, they have travelled to 35 countries. He believes that exposing his children to different cultures and ways of living helps reveal different perspectives and teachings they might not get otherwise. At home, Mehta gives back to Ronald McDonald House and various charities that support women and children in Edmonton. 

Mehta knows that success doesn’t come overnight. He says it takes hard work, hustle, and the willingness to face challenges and learn from failure —  along with the courage and perseverance to achieve one’s goals.
