Neet and Vikram Dhaliwal

For Neet and Vikram Dhaliwal, founders of Cranston Master Builder, philanthropy is rooted in a simple question: how can they make Edmonton a little better? Rather than concentrating their efforts on one large gesture, the couple has built a long-standing commitment to supporting causes throughout the community, giving both their time and financial resources where they can make a meaningful difference.

Their approach is influenced by Neet’s Sikh faith and its emphasis on service. As their company has grown, so too has their ability to contribute, prompting them to focus their support more intentionally while remaining open to opportunities to help.

One of their most significant areas of involvement is the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, particularly initiatives connected to the Lois Hole Hospital for Women. Neet is involved with the Women’s Society and its committee, which works to raise funds for medical equipment used in the hospital. The work also allows her to advocate for greater attention to disparities in funding for men’s and women’s health research.

Housing and support for vulnerable Edmontonians is another major priority. Through the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation’s Bridge Healing program, the couple has committed their time and resources to helping people leaving hospital who do not have adequate housing or support. The initiative focuses on creating more affordable and accessible housing for vulnerable populations, addressing a need that extends well beyond the hospital itself.

Their giving reflects a broader belief that building communities means more than constructing houses. It means contributing to the systems that allow people to thrive, from health care and mental health to housing and addiction support.

For Neet and Vikram, philanthropy is ultimately about reciprocity: giving back to the city and community that has given their family so much.
