A private event space in downtown Edmonton brings the love of food and his customers together for one city chef.
The man behind the apron at Kitchen by Brad Smoliak has often found himself feeling somewhat “chained to the stove” during the course of his career. Smoliak loved his work as an executive chef but he had a desire to more often connect with the people who enjoyed his cooking and so he created something different. In 2012, Smoliak launched a new concept that would allow him to invite his guests into his domain.
Kitchen by Brad Smoliak is a stylish and modern culinary studio in Edmonton’s downtown core that plays host to private events and kitchen or dinner parties, in a homestyle feel. It is an open concept dining room and kitchen area that features a large island and cooktop where guests often gather, wine in hand, to watch the chef create their dinner.
“People love it. They’ll sometimes come up and ask questions or join in the cooking. It’s more interactive than just going out for dinner,” Smoliak explains in a phone conversation with Modern Luxuria Magazine.

COVID-19 regulations forced the temporary closure of the main portion of the business but Kitchen by Brad Smoliak remains open for curbside pick-up on Wednesdays. $5 from every meal sold will be donated to the University of Alberta Hospital Foundation for COVID-19 healthcare emergency responders. Kitchen by Brad Smoliak offers a home away from home for corporate meetings, kitchen parties, cooking classes, and wine and food events.
