Passionate about supporting excellence in patient care and promoting the positive face of women’s health in Alberta, the Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Society raises both awareness and funds for the programs and initiatives at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.
The Women’s Society has raised over $400,000 to fund multiple life-saving projects through its 160+ supporters and 31+ community partners. One such project is the DaVinci Surgical Robot upgrade, which is a fluorescence imaging system referred to as “Firefly.” Firefly provides surgeons with a clear, real-time view of cancers that are to be surgically removed, which increases positive surgical outcomes and decreases both recovery time and the number of doctor’s visits required post-surgery.
Additional projects supported by the Women’s Society fundraising activities include adding two additional endoscopes, as well as providing the Panda Warmer to the Lois Hole Hospital Labour and Delivery Department. The Panda Warmer is an overhead heating unit that allows for a quick and effective way to stabilize an infant’s body temperature, which brings the infant warmth and increases their chance of survival if born prematurely.
