A legacy in jewellery design
Raised surrounded by treasures in House of Gems, her grandparents’ store, Tanis Uzwyshyn has always been drawn to things that sparkle and shine. Goldsmiths themselves, her grandparents taught her important skills like how to knot pearls, a skill she still employs today at her jewellery store, The Sparkle Bar.
Before The Sparkle Bar, Uzwyshyn owned a stationery company that caught the attention of Martha Stewart, promptly landing her products in 75 boutiques across North America and Europe. A major accomplishment. The Sparkle Bar is personal though. Jewellery is in Uzwyshyn’s blood. “[This is] a continuation of my story,” she says, “[It’s] a merging of my heritage, art and design.”

Over time, her eye has sharpened, sparking creative joy in every stunning piece she designs. Working exclusively with solid 14k gold and natural gemstones, her clientele recognize the value of quality and the possibilities that come with using them over synthetic gemstones and filled or plated metals.
A viral TikTok catapulted The Sparkle Bar’s permanent jewellery line into public domain. The process of permanent jewellery involves choosing a custom fit necklace, bracelet or anklet that is then welded closed so that it becomes a permanent or “forever” piece. Permanent jewellery, though, is only part of what Uzwyshyn does. Custom-made pieces are the draw, either with a clasp or with a permanent closure. What excites Uzwyshyn is the beauty in the choice and that clients get to tell their story their way. “Everyone has a story to tell and humans crave connection,” she says. “Friends come to celebrate special moments with a spark, girlfriends come in groups to bond, parents mark milestones with their children, couples come to celebrate their love. Some come to wear a secret, others want a lot of sparkle and the ultimate stack.” Since diamond tennis bracelets are an option, sparkle at The Sparkle Bar is guaranteed.

With authenticity and genuine care, Uzwyshyn finds profound fulfillment in assisting her clients with finding the perfect piece. “I weld it on, they look down in disbelief and without fail, a giggle and a smile,” she says of their reactions.
Uzwyshyn created The Sparkle Bar for anyone who loves jewellery, but she’s also forged a place where people can celebrate a connection, hold a memory, or carry a reminder for themselves whether by wearing a special charm or any one of her special designs.
Personalization and storytelling are at the heart of The Sparkle Bar. With unlimited ways to express yourself, including engraved inscriptions on custom pieces, the choice is yours.
