We cozy up and find out a little bit more about Dr. Anil Sharma.

He’s internationally recognized for his work in cosmetic surgery and hair restoration. His cutting edge European techniques are in high demand in Paris, London and Milan. Dr. Anil Sharma has a British accent, his best friend is an Old English Sheepdog named Diego, and he calls Edmonton home.

What do you like best about your work?
I like using my hands and making art, so I think cosmetic and hair transplant surgery has allowed me to utilize both of these things. It is also wonderful to make people feel more confident and be the best version of themselves.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in enhancing their appearance with cosmetic surgery?
I say start slow and treat it like a marathon, not a sprint. It is certainly a lifestyle choice like choosing to workout 5 times per week. Like anything in life, it is about being realistic and persistent. You don’t need too much of anything to look natural and healthy.

Is there a procedure that you would recommend everyone, over a certain age, consider getting?
We use neuromodulators like botox or Dysport to treat “dynamic wrinkles” (wrinkles that appear when we gesticulate and move our muscles) and hyaluronic fillers for “static wrinkles” (that appear with age, loss of fat and water in our tissue and loss of volume in the face). If we start early when indicated and persist with the facial ageing project, then the results can be quite dramatic and most importantly, natural.

What advice would you give to those of us who are starting to notice the signs of ageing?
As an expert in facial rejuvenation, a good quality Retinol and Vitamin C facial cream would definitely be at the top of my list. It has to be applied on a regular basis for an extended period of time, otherwise, it becomes ineffective. Both will thicken the skin by increasing collagen production and hence reduce the appearance of fine lines.

You have an impressive background. Education in the UK’s most prestigious schools with credentials all over Europe. Why did you choose Edmonton to build part of your business? What brought you here? Why Edmonton?
What can I say, I enjoy making snowmen and I love hockey!

How did you spend your time during the COVID-19 quarantine earlier this year?
I certainly missed my work but I do think I made the most of it. I made the best of my home gym and I suppose I spent far too long in there every day.

Tell us something that most people would be surprised to learn about you.
For a short time in my life I flew commercial jets around the world as a Pilot.

His cutting edge European techniques are in high demand in Paris, London and Milan. Dr. Anil Sharma has a British accent, his best friend is an Old English Sheepdog named Diego, and he calls Edmonton home.

Diego is adorable! We’d love to hear a bit about your relationship with him.
Diego is 5 years old and he is an Old English Sheep Dog. I named him Diego after the Saber-toothed Cat in Disney’s cartoon, The Ice Age. He is loyal, handsome, and full of courageous personality. We are more like best friends than the owner and dog. I love giving him the best life.

What brings you joy?
Diego, red wine, good friends, looking and feeling the best I can, lifting weights.

How do you define “luxury”?
I think most people think of luxury as expensive things, like Champagne or flying First Class. But to me, luxury is when one can take simple pleasures in the quality of something you own or an experience you enjoy. Sleeping with the rain pattering on a tin roof is up there for me.

What does the term “luxuria” mean to you?
Decadence, rarity, uniqueness, and timeless.
